Services for Students With Disabilities
In keeping with the St. Norbert College mission which calls us to help students develop their full potential, and in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the college provides reasonable modifications and necessary accommodations to students with disabilities.
Students become eligible for services when they disclose and provide recent documentation of a disability to the office of academic success, support and accessibility. Accommodations are tailored to a student's need on a case-by-case basis.
Academic Accommodations
An academic accommodation is a modification or adjustment to instructional methods and/or a course, program, service, activity or facility that enables a qualified student with a disability to have an equal opportunity.
Housing Accommodations
A housing accommodation is a modification or adjustment that gives students with disabilities whose health, mobility or other issues may impact their ability to equally access the services or programs in their housing areas.
Emotional Support Animal Accommodations and Service Animal Information
An Emotional Support Animal (ESA) accommodation is a modification or adjustment that gives students with disabilities, whose health, mobility or other issues may impact their ability to equally access services or programs, the right to have a companion animal reside with them on campus.
Service Animals are defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Service animals are working animals, not pets. Individuals who wish to bring a service animal to campus – including classrooms and St. Norbert College buildings open to the public – may do so without prior approval.
Dietary Accommodations
A dietary accommodation is a modification or adjustment for students with disabilities whose health, mobility or special dietary needs may impact their ability to equally access proper nutrition through campus dining services or programs.
Temporary Accommodations
Temporary accommodations are available to students who self-identify as having been documented that they are temporarily disabled. This could occur while recovering from illness, injury or other issues that may impact their ability to equal access.
